Biography

The life of Franck Ribéry should be an inspiration to all kids who feel they didn’t have luck in their life. Coming from a modest background, Frank Ribéry nearly lost his life in a car accident when he goes through the windshield. The scars are still visible on his right profile.

The eldest of four children, Frank sees football as a way to escape his current difficult situation. After starting out in the National Team for his city, Boulogne-sur-Mer, Ribéry joined the training center of Lille. But already, his strong character will displease some people. At 16, he was kicked out of the center before embarking on a long journey to find the club that will allow him to flourish.

He will have his chance with Marseille but the fans will have the feeling that Ribéry is not sincere with the club and is merely looking for a springboard to the big European clubs. Still bruised by the departure of Didier Drogba to Chelsea, the Marseille fans will find their new star in Ribéry. His skills and fighting spirit will make him an instant favorite with the fans.

His performance during the first half of 2006 will allow him to be selected for the national team. Right, centre or left of the midfield, he will keep driving Marseille forward whether it is in the league or in the Cup completion.

He will quickly adapt to his new surroundings and Ribéry will inject new pace in France attack. He will come on the world scene in the match against Spain where he will score the equalizer after the Spanish had opened their score. France will go on and win the match 3-1 and more importantly this will kick-start their campaign until the famous final against Italy

After another season at Marseille, the time will come for Ribéry to have a change of surrounding. Announced in almost all big European team, he finally joined Bayern Munich who are busy reconstructing the team. Ribéry will adapt quickly to life in the Bundesliga and will help Bayern win the Championship in 2008. Despite his desire to go to Real Madrid, Ribéry continued his career in Germany, won a new championship in 2010 but was suspended for the Champions League which Bayern lost against Inter Milan 2-0.

On the international scene besides the 2006 World Cup, Ribéry played numerous games for the French national team. He started his career in the under-21 team and played his first match in 2004 against Israel. His first cap in the senior team will be won on 27 May 2006 where he played against Mexico.

He also participated in the Euro 2008 and played in the 3 group matches. Unfortunately he will not be able to do much as France will crash out the competition. Similarly he will also be selected in the team for the 2010 World Cup and again France will fail to live up to the expectations. They will again be eliminated at the group stage.
